Mit einer Kopf- und K\u00f6rperl\u00e4nge von 46 bis 65 cm (18 bis 26 Zoll) hat es einen buschigen Schwanz von 21 bis 31 cm (8,3 bis 12,2 Zoll). Diese au\u00dfergew\u00f6hnliche Kreatur beherrscht die Kunst der Tarnung und gedeiht erfolgreich im rauen kontinentalen Klima ihres nat\u00fcrlichen Lebensraums, in dem es kaum Niederschl\u00e4ge gibt und die Temperaturen stark schwanken.<\/p>\n<p>Das Manul-Gebirge in Turkmenistan erstreckt sich vom Naturschutzgebiet Badkyz im Nordosten entlang des Kopetdag-Gebirges bis in die Balkanprovinz. Laut Wikipedia ist die Pallas-Katze m\u00f6gliche Bewohner entlang der gesamten K\u00fcste des Golfs von Kara-Bogaz-Gol. Diese Art von Wildkatze gilt jedoch in Turkmenistan als selten. Fotoquelle &#8211; savemanul.org<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Pallas Katzen sind seit November 2019 dreimal in Turkmenistan auf Kamerafallen aufgetaucht. Die erste und dritte Sichtung ereigneten sich im zentralen Kopet Dag nahe der iranischen Grenze, w\u00e4hrend die zweite im Gro\u00dfen Balkangebirge im Nordwesten Turkmenistans dokumentiert wurde. Bemerkenswerterweise hatte der zentrale Kopet Dag anekdotische Berichte \u00fcber Pallas &#8216;Katzensichtungen, aber bis vor kurzem gab es keine dokumentierten Aufzeichnungen im Gro\u00dfen Balkangebiet. Laut \u00e4lterer Literatur aus dem Jahr 1962 (Shukurov 1962) wurde Pallas&#8217;Katze jedoch bereits 1940 im Gro\u00dfen Balkangebiet beobachtet.<\/p>\n<p>Die Entdeckung der Pallas-Katze geht auf das Jahr 1776 zur\u00fcck, das Peter Simon Pallas zugeschrieben wird, der sie zum ersten Mal in der N\u00e4he des Baikalsees entdeckte. Seitdem wurde die Katze in weiten Teilen Zentralasiens gesichtet und bewohnt verschiedene Gebiete vom Kaukasus, dem iranischen Plateau, dem Hindukusch, Teilen des Himalaya, dem tibetischen Plateau bis hin zur Altai-Sayan-Region und den s\u00fcdsibirischen Bergen. Es bevorzugt felsiges Berggrasland und Buschland, insbesondere solche mit einer Schneedecke von unter 15-20 cm (6-8 Zoll). Zum Schutz sucht es Zuflucht in Felsspalten und H\u00f6hlen und jagt haupts\u00e4chlich Hasentiere und Nagetiere. Im Fr\u00fchjahr bringt das Weibchen einen Wurf von zwei bis sechs K\u00e4tzchen zur Welt.<\/p>\n<p>Die Anpassungsf\u00e4higkeit und die weite Verbreitung der Pallas-Katze haben dazu gef\u00fchrt, dass sie seit 2020 auf der Roten Liste der IUCN als &#8220;Am wenigsten besorgniserregend&#8221; eingestuft ist. Bestimmte Bev\u00f6lkerungsgruppen sind jedoch Bedrohungen wie Wilderei, sinkenden Beutezahlen aufgrund von Nagetierbek\u00e4mpfungsprogrammen und der Fragmentierung von Lebensr\u00e4umen durch Bergbau- und Infrastrukturprojekte ausgesetzt.<\/p>\n<p>Seit den fr\u00fchen 1950er Jahren hat die Pallas-Katze einen Platz in verschiedenen Zoos weltweit gefunden. Derzeit beteiligen sich etwa 60 Zoos in Europa, Russland, Nordamerika und Japan aktiv an Zuchtprogrammen in Gefangenschaft, die sich dem Erhalt dieser reizvollen Art widmen.<\/p>\n<h3>Fotos der
