Lebap
Lebap velayat (Turkm. Lebap welaýayty) is an administrative unit in the east of Turkmenistan. Its area is 93,727 square kilometers, the population is 1,334,500 people (2005). The administrative center of the velayat is the city of Turkmenabad. Hyakim - Shohrat Amangeldiev (since February 7, 2020). The name Lebap is a Turkmenized form of the Persian Lab-eāb (Persian: لب آب), meaning "river bank" and has long been used to refer to the middle course of the Amu Darya.
