Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Ashgabat – City Tour
Arrival and Check-In: Arrive at Ashgabat International Airport with Turkish Airlines at 2:00 AM or other. You will be greeted and transferred to hotel for an early check-in.
Enjoy a delicious breakfast at the hotel and a leisurely morning to relax and acclimate.
In the afternoon start city tour in Ashgabat. Discover Ashgabat, the “City of Love,” renowned for its striking white marble architecture and grand boulevards. Begin at the State Museum of History and Ethnography to explore ancient artifacts. Continue along the Archabil Highway to see the Magtymguly monument, ending at Independence Park and the monumental buildings.
We will visit Eastern Bazaar “Tolkuchka” is one of the largest markets not only in Turkmenistan but in all of Central Asia. Here you can find and buy almost everything – from souvenirs and toys to cattle and camels. Note: open on SAT and SUN.
After lunch, enjoy a 1-2 hour walk from Ashgabat Park along historic Magtymguly Avenue, to Lenin Square, home to The Monument of Lenin that survived the 1948 earthquake. Continue to the lively Gulistan Bazaar (Russian market), a Soviet-era landmark, where you can experience local life and browse stalls of dried fruits, famous Turkmen melons, carpets, and traditional souvenirs. (Walking tour distance – 2.5 km, about 2 hour walk including stops)
Return to hotel, free time at leisure.

Day 2: Ashgabat – Murche – Nokhur – Ashgabat
After a relaxed breakfast at the hotel, we will spend the morning driving to Murche village home of Zengi Baba stands out as a prominent structure, with its origins tracing back to either the 13th or 14th centuries. During this time, bricks salvaged from earlier establishments were repurposed, or alternatively, it could have been initially constructed during the 10th or 11th centuries.
After lunch, travel to the unique mountain village of Nokhur, whose name means “Nine Heavenly Maidens” and where pre-Islamic traditions still echo in local culture. Explore the mystical tribal cemetery marked with ram horns on the tombstones, visit the sacred site of Kyz Bibi and thousand-year-old plane tree (Chinar), and enjoy a scenic walk to a nearby waterfall.
Then drive back to Ashgabat. Upon arrival transfer to hotel. Opt to dine at hotel restaurant or to drive to nearby local restaurant.
Drive: Ashgabat → Murche ~103km / ~1,5 hrs.
Murche → Nohur ~40km / ~45 min

Day 3: Ashgabat – Darvaza
Start the day with breakfast at the hotel and check-out.
We will spend the morning visiting the Ashgabat Carpet Museum to discover the artistry and symbolism of Traditional Turkmen carpet making art (included in UNESCO, the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity), from the tiniest carpet to the world’s largest handmade masterpiece.
After lunch, depart by 4WD vehicle toward the Darvaza also known as “The Gates of Hell“, a methane-belching fire pit in the Turkmenistan desert has been spewing fire for decades – but its origin is considered The USSR’s top-secret desert mystery.
En route make short sightseeing stops at two gas craters (one with boiling water and the other one with sulfur-bubbling mud; both seeping with gas from the underground). Arrive in Darvaza by early evening.

- Travel is by comfortable 4×4 vehicles (max. 3 passengers per vehicle) to ensure safety and comfort.
Settle into a traditional yurt camp and visit the legendary Darvaza Gas Crater, a massive natural gas crater burning continuously since the 1970s. As night falls, the glowing flames create an unforgettable desert atmosphere. Enjoy a special dinner with nomad style kebabs in yurt camps.
Drive: Ashgabat → Darvaza ~270 km / ~4 hrs.

Day 4: Darvaza – Kunya-Urgench – Ashgabat
Wake up to breakfast at the camp, take one last look at the mesmerizing flaming crater, and then we’ll head towards Kunya-Urgench.
Note: Be prepared for the road challenge for the next 5 hours. The road from Darvaza to Kunya Urgench is quite damaged but our experienced drivers have strong wheels to handle it.
Upon arrival in Kunya Urgench transfer to local restaurant to have lunch then start exploring the city’s architectural and spiritual treasures, including the Mausoleum of Turabek Khanym, Kutlug Timur Minaret, Sultan Tekesh Mausoleum, Kyrk Mollah Mound, Il-Arslan Mausoleum, and the shrines of Najm al-Din al-Kubra and Piryar Vali. These sites reflect centuries of Islamic culture, medieval scholarship, and stunning Seljuk-Khorezmian architecture.
Drive to Dashoguz. Hotel check-in.
Drive: Darvaza → Kunya-Urgench ~285km / ~5-6 hrs.
Kunya-Urgench → Dashoguz ~ 100km / ~1.5 hrs.

Day 5: Dashoguz – Ashgabat – Departure
Check out from hotel. Transfer to Dashoguz airport and fly to Ashgabat international airport. Depending on your flight schedule you can fly back home from Ashgabat international airport.
